Accelerated Reader
There's a good chance a Riverdale student has read more in the last week than most adults have read in the last month (or longer!).
We love to read!
RCA implemented the Accelerated Reader (A/R) program during the 2007-2008 school year. Within a few weeks, our second through fifth graders had read more than 330+ books and almost 3 million words! The A/R program is used by thousands of schools around the world to promote reading comprehension, vocabulary building and overall literacy. Students read books and then take computer-based quizzes whereby they earn points based on the number of correct answers on each quiz. Students and classes earn everything from pizza, free dress passes, ice cream parties, candy, etc.. Parents of students in A/R programs will testify that their children develop a love of reading which lasts through high school and into college.
